Establishment:
This Scholarship was established in 2013 by Tarek Nashar, who wished to establish a scholarship to honor the significant contribution of his mother Professor Beryl Nashar to Geology as the first Professor of Geology at the University of Newcastle. The scholarship has been established to encourage and reward a student who has excelled in their Bachelor of Science (Honours) (Earth Sciences) program and who is enrolling in their fourth-year honors program in Geology.
Eligibility for the Professor Beryl Nashar Scholarship for Excellence in Geology:
- Applicants must be enrolled in 4th year of a Bachelor of Science (Honours) with UON and completing an honors project in geology.
- Candidates should have studied with UON for the duration of their current program and be enrolled full-time.
- Students should demonstrate academic achievement by a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 6.0 or higher in their current program.
- The candidate must be an Australian citizen and not be the recipient of another University of Newcastle donor-funded or sponsored scholarship concurrently.
Value of the Scholarship:
This scholarship provides $1,000 to be paid in a lump sum payment.
